Donald Trump hugged an 88-year-old sex slave and that really annoyed Japan

Image
US President Donald Trump embraced an 88-year-old former sex slave at a banquet 8 November as South Korea made a bold statement that will infuriate neighbours Japan. The woman, Lee Yong Soo, was enslaved by the Japanese Army during World War II when she was just 16-years-old. She is one of around 30 living " comfort women " who served the Japanese. ' South Korean President Moon Jae In invited Lee to the state gala to meet with Trump in front of the cameras, sending a clear message to the Japanese that the issue has not been forgotten in spite of Tokyo making compensation payments to survivors in 2015. The US President is midway through a five-nation tour of Asia as he marks the anniversary of his election victory over Hillary Clinton in 2016. He found himself in a tight spot as Lee leaned into hug him. It was not an offer he could reasonably refuse but he, or someone close to him, should know just how contentious the issue "comfort women" remains in Sin

Ex-militant leader,High Chief Oweizide Government Ekpemupolo Alias Tompolo today stated that the continuous deployment of military houseboats, gunships and fighter jets to the Niger Delta will not solve the problem of the age-long criminal neglect of the region by government. Tompolo made the assertion in a statement signed by his Media Consultant, Comrade Paul Bebenimibo “The huge sum of money used to deploy military houseboats, gunships and fighter jets is enough to fund the Nigerian Maritime University and other development projects in the region that will give a sense of relief and belonging to the people as part of the Nigerian project.” Tompolo pointed out that mere acknowledgement of the fast deteriorating condition of the Niger Delta region by government is not enough to solve the problems there. Rather, the Federal Government needs to put up a strong political will to address the issue of lack of development in the region. “At the last count, there are over 20

Sergio Ramos slams Cristiano Ronaldo for blaming Real Madrid’s woes on Alvaro Morata sale to Chelsea

Image
Sergio Ramos has branded Cristiano Ronaldo an ‘opportunist’ for suggesting Real Madrid’s current woes are down to the summer sales of Alvaro Morata, James Rodgriguez and Pepe. Zinedine Zidane has come under significant pressure for the first time since he became the manager of the Spanish giants following a run of form which has seen his side fall eight points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona, while defeat at Wembley against Tottenham last week will almost certainly see the back-to-back European champions fail to qualify from Group H. Ronaldo, who has scored only once in La Liga this season, believes Real’s problems can be traced back to a summer window which saw three high-profile squad members depart, but Ramos insists that is too simplistic an explanation. ‘I do not agree with Cristiano,’ he told Cadena SER. ‘I think it’s an opportunist opinion. ‘When we won two Super Cups [UEFA Super Cup and Supercopa de Espana], nobody missed anyone. ‘I would place more of the emphasis o

Lionel Messi: It makes me angry that people say I run the Argentina team

Image
Lionel Messi has told ESPN that it makes him angry when people claim he makes the big decisions for the Argentina national team. Messi, whose hat trick took Argentina to the World Cup last month, has been accused of selecting coaches and influencing which players do and do not make the squad in the past. The Barcelona forward, however, criticised the "ridiculous" comments that have been made about him. "It makes me angry that people say so many things so easily,"  Messi told ESPN's Diego Monroig  about his thoughts on the suggestion he runs the Argentina team. "People say a lot of things without knowing. So, on one hand, it makes me angry. But on the other hand, I am used to everything that they say. The Brazil international was strongly targeted by Barcelona over the summer, with  BBC Sport  claiming that the Catalan giants failed three times with bids for the Reds playmaker. Regarded as one of the best attacking midfielders in Europe on his day, it is little surprise to see plenty of interest in Coutinho, who has four goals and three assists in just nine appearances for Liverpool this season. PSG showed plenty of ambition by signing Neymar from Barcelona this summer, and the 25-year-old could now be ready to hurt his old club once more by encouraging his new side to hijack their move fo
