Zlatan completes move to MLS with LA Galaxy

Image
Zlatan Ibrahimovic has completed his move to the LA Galaxy, with the MLS club announcing the signing of the Swedish striker on Friday -- in typical outspoken Zlatan fashion. One day after Manchester United agreed to terminate his contract, the enigmatic 36-year-old -- known for his larger-than-life personality and his history of zany quotes -- wrote simply, "Dear Los Angeles, You're Welcome" in a full-page advertisement in the Los Angeles Times. The Galaxy officially announced his signing later in the morning, ending a years-long pursuit to bring one of the world's most famous players to the United States. Sources told ESPN FC that Ibrahimovic signed a two-year, $3 million contract with the Galaxy. The club confirmed he will be added to the squad using targeted allocation money and will not be a designated player, with the Galaxy already using the three allotted slots on forward Giovani dos Santos and midfielders Jonathan dos Santos and Romain Alessandrini. Manchester United Terminates Ibra's Contract with immediate effect.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will leave Manchester United early after failing to make the comeback that many had said was impossible. Having picked up a potentially career-ending cruciate ligament injury, many feared that his career was over. If he was a few years younger, there was a greater chance of recovery, particularly considering what good shape he had been in throughout his career, but given that he was in his mid-30s, people feared the worst. What made the injury all the more painful was Manchester United were on their way to the Europa League final at the Friendship Stadium in Sweden. This is the ground that will be home to a statue of Ibrahimovic, in recognition of everything he did for the national team. The final was supposed to belong to him, but instead, he had to sit out on the sidelines. Still, such is his mentality, it didn't appear to bother him on the night as he paraded around the pitch on his crutches following United's 2-0 win over Ajax. Beaming for every pict

Using facebook? Be-Aware!

Ever take one of those silly personality tests on Facebook? Your friends took the quiz ("What city should you actually live in?" was a popular one), so you followed the link to a website, answered some questions and shared the result: "Paris." All in good fun within your private social media group, right? Yes, unless information from a quiz like that was harvested without consent or knowledge by a political data firm connected to the Trump campaign. In which case, your private musings may have contributed to a "psychographic modeling" effort to identify and influence American voters. That's the damning centerpiece of news reports about Facebook and Cambridge Analytica, a data firm founded by supporters of Donald Trump.  There's a lot to be explored in the wake of investigative reporting by the New York Times and the Observer of London, but this privacy breach has the feel of a watershed moment in digital history. It relates to the devious approp

Real Madrid accept €130million Gareth Bale transfer bid

Image
Real Madrid have reportedly accepted a mammoth bid of   €130million for Gareth Bale from an unnamed Chinese Super League club. The Wales international has been recently linked with Premier League clubs such as Manchester United, but it seems the latest is that European sides are unsure about paying a huge amount for him. This is according to Don Balon, who claim an offer has come in for Bale at €130m, though the player himself has turned down the move. It seems the 28-year-old would rather stay at a big club and is making life difficult for Madrid as they unsurprisingly seem keen to offload him after a disappointing season. Bale has not been as much of a regular in Zinedine Zidane’s starting line up recently, with a combination of injuries and a loss of form hurting his chances. But, it was gathered that  Gareth Bale doesn’t want a transfer to the Chinese Super League Another report from Don Balon today suggested Jose Mourinho was confident of bringing Bale to Manchester U

Dina Melaye: INEC to resume recall proceedings

Image
Following an appeal court ruling, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kogi State has announced the recommencement of the recall process of Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi West. According to a report by Punch, the Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, James Apam, made this announcement on Wednesday at a forum in Lokoja. The commissioner said the court ruling gives INEC the power to continue the recall process and the commission has fixed April 28 for verification. INEC also fixed May 5 for a referendum to be conducted in line with the electoral laws. “On this day, the commission will invite all those who have signed the recall register to come forward and identify their signature.” “Here voters will be asked to vote either yes or no to the question of whether they want Senator Dino Melaye recalled or not. “If those who say yes are able to meet the constitutional requirements of 51 per cent, the process will move to the next stage but if it

Femi Fani-Kayode: The Dapchi scam: Where is Liya Sharibu

Image
I am happy that the Dapchi girls are all back home but I am deeply troubled by the fact that one of them was left behind and by the assertion that 5 of them died whilst in captivity. The day the truth comes out about what really happened to the Chibok and Dapchi girls and those that were behind these two scams, Nigerians will be shocked and they will spit on the graves of Buhari and his collaborators. Meanwhile I saw the pictures and watched the video of Dapchi residents cheering on and waving at Boko Haram insurgents as they dropped off the “missing” girls. It was clear to me that they regarded the terrorists as heroes and I was compelled to ask myself the following question, “are we really one country?” So many questions need to be answered. For example how do you explain the Ghana Must Go bags that the girls were carrying on their return? Did they go shopping in Sambisa Forest? Or is it that when they abducted them they gave them time to pack all their clothes and allowed the
