Suspected insane woman drown two children into well

A woman, identified simply as Omowumi, resident on Anjoorin Street, Koledowo community, Osogbo, Osun State, has been arrested by the police following allegations that she threw her two daughters into a well. Efforts by residents, as well as officials of the Osun State Fire Service, on Tuesday, to recover the bodies were futile.  The suspect who recently returned to Nigeria from a country in the Middle-East  was accused of throwing her two daughters into the well and was arrested after by the policemen after the firemen at the scene could not recover the bodies of the deceased. Ibrahim Adekunle, A spokesperson for the Osun State Fire Service,  said operatives deployed in the scene could not recover the bodies because of the volume of water in the well. Accountant-General’s office budgets N36m to battle wild animals

 Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, said yesterday that his office proposed N36 million in the 2022 budget to combat antelopes, snakes and other reptiles that trouble them. He also said his office would incur extra charges in the payment of personnel attached to Nigeria’s foreign missions and embassies, which will affect the proposed N410 to  $1  dollar exchange rate by the federal government in the budget to N425 to a dollar.  Idris disclosed this at a budget defence session with the House of Representatives Committee on Finance. The office proposed a total of N10.470 billion for the 2022 fiscal year,  But identifying N36 million earmarked for fumigation in the budget, the committee asked Idris to defend it and offer more explanations, noting that the allocation to the item might be higher. Obi Cubana released after held for 24 hours in EFCC custody

 Obinna Iyiegbu (aka Obi Cabana) was, yesterday, released after spending about 24 hours in the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in Abuja. Depot owners top fuel price by N9 per litre due to shortage

 The petrol shortage might emerge as the Private Depots have increased the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) or petrol price to N157 per litre, from N148/litre in different parts of the nation. Many marketers are discouraged especially the members of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), who lift 90 per cent of their petrol from the depots, belonging to Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria, DAPPMAN members.   The National Operations Controller of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Mike Osatuyi, confirmed the development, said: “We are aware of the development because our members procure about 90 per cent of supplies from DAPPMAN members.   Osun State Polytechnic, Ire The Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, Osun State, on Monday, demanded a probe into the circumstances surrounding the death of a female student, identified simply as Wumi. Sources at the institution said Wumi, a National Diploma 1 student of the Department of Mass Communication, died on Saturday after she took ill in her boyfriend’s house in the Igaa area of Iree town. the deceased suddenly developed complications and was rushed to a private hospital in Iree, but was rejected. She reportedly gave up the ghost before she could be moved to another health facility. A female student in her department, reported that the boyfriend had been arrested in connection with the incident. She said, “Wumi went to her boyfriend’s house in the Igaa area, Iree. She suddenly started foaming in the mouth. Lukman said this in a paper titled, “Opposition Politics and Campaign for New Nigeria, which he made public in Abuja, on Monday. According to him, leaders of the opposition party deserve commendation for setting aside their differences and respecting democratic principles in electing a new set of leaders. It should be noted that it was easy for the party because it was no longer in power. He said,  “With the successful conclusion of the PDP National Convention on Saturday, October 30, 2021, credit must be given to leaders and members of the party for being able to manage the process and elect a new leadership for the party. “Whether in the end, the new leaders will be allowed
